A royal tour for older Dragon Hall members

by John Hayes from Dragon Hall

We went on two tours of Buckingham Palace and in total 40 members attended. Everyone had a great day, despite the airport security system that was in place - which meant we had to queue for 20 minutes! Once inside Dawn, out guide, took us to our own private area - "The Billard Room", where tea, coffee and biscuits were waiting for us! All beautifully presented and in the best china.

Dawn provided an agenda for the tour and also gave some history and background to the palace, before we started our walk around this magnificent building.

This is what our members said:

"Dawn is, quite simply, the best guide/group leader I’ve ever encountered. Her ability to single out just a few key points in each room, with sufficient but not overwhelming background information, and all of this in a warm and amusing manner is really impressive.."

".....We really enjoyed the day. It was like walking and exploring a jewel box....."

"...The visit to the State Rooms at Buckingham Palace was a real treat and very informative. We were most fortunate and thankful to have a professional guide to take us through the background information and history. We also had time to absorb the sumptuous surroundings and appreciate how much art and craftsmanship had gone into creating the State Rooms.....The whole tour was a marvel and I feel privileged to have had a glimpse of part of the Royal Family's backdrop....."
